Tszyu vs. Spencer was not the only event of this fight night. A loaded Top Rank card, headlined by Richard Torrez Jr. who collided with fellow Olympian Guido Vianello in a test of skill, will, and ring IQ, occured under the bright lights of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. With multiple prospects hunting for breakthrough performances on the undercard, the event delivered its fair share of drama:
In the main event 2020 Olympic silver medalist Richard Torrez Jr. extended his unbeaten streak, defeating “The Gladiator” Guido Vianello over ten competitive rounds. Torrez and Vianello both had flashes of success early, but recurring clinching from the taller Vianello cost him a point in the second. Vianello rallied in the fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds by relying on his jab and using less holding, yet Torrez stormed back in the later frames with powerful overhand lefts. A clash of heads opened a cut on Torrez’s eyelid in the ninth, but he remained aggressive, out-landing Vianello in the tenth to secure a unanimous decision (97-92, 98-91, 98-91).
