A night of boxing unfolded yesterday at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham, England, headlined by the vacant WBC Interim World Flyweight title bout between Sunny Edwards and Galal Yafai. This event delivered high-intensity clashes, stunning performances, and moments of true grit, so here is a review of all the bouts.
In the main event, 2020 Olympic Gold Medalist Galal Yafai claimed the vacant WBC Interim World Flyweight title with a commanding sixth-round stoppage over former IBF World Flyweight champion Sunny Edwards. From the outset, Yafai imposed his pace, overwhelming Edwards with precise combinations. Edwards struggled to counter Yafai’s aggression and was repeatedly caught by sharp punches to the body and head. As the fight progressed, Edwards began to wilt under the sustained attack, and by the sixth round, Yafai’s flurries of unanswered shots left the referee with no choice but to stop the contest at 1:10.
