Liam Cameron’s career has taken an exciting turn following his hard-fought contest with Olympic silver medalist Ben Whittaker last weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. While the result of their bout - a technical split draw - may not have been the win Cameron hoped for, he secured something just as significant: a contract with Queensberry Promotions.

Cameron came into the fight as the underdog, expected to be another test for Whittaker, who had been rising rapidly in the light heavyweight division. However, Cameron didn’t back down. He brought the fight to Whittaker from the opening bell, making the bout much more competitive than many anticipated.

The fight took a turn in the fifth round when both fighters tumbled over the ropes during an exchange. Whittaker sustained an ankle injury, forcing the fight to be stopped. The judges ruled it a technical draw, but the performance Cameron put in did not go unnoticed.

Cameron’s journey back into the spotlight has been far from easy. After a suspension in 2018 for testing positive for cocaine, many thought his career was over. However, Cameron showed his inner resilience, pulling his life back together and returning to the ring in 2023. Since then, he’s been on a mission to prove he belongs among the top contenders. His recent performances, including a split-decision loss to Lyndon Arthur earlier this year, demonstrate that he is more than capable of competing at a high level.
