Jared Anderson is set to square off against a power-punching southpaw on July 1st, but it won't be Zhan Kossobutskiy as originally planned. The former IBF heavyweight champion Charles Martin has stepped in to replace Kossobutskiy, who has faced visa issues that prevent his travel to the United States. The fight, which marks the main event in an ESPN-televised bout, is to take place at Huntington Center in Anderson’s hometown of Toledo, Ohio.

Martin’s decision to take up the match against Anderson on such short notice has highlighted his determination, especially considering Anderson's reputation as one of the most formidable knockout artists in the heavyweight division. Despite the significant age gap, with Martin being 37 and Anderson 23, Martin has won a world title and has faced a higher level of opposition than Kossobutskiy.

The 6-foot-4, 247-pound Anderson has managed to knock out every opponent he has faced since turning professional in November 2019. Anderson will face a significant step up in opposition when he encounters Martin. This will offer a challenging match for the undefeated heavyweight.

Charles Martin, from Las Vegas, knocked out 2004 U.S. Olympian Devin Vargas in the fourth round of his last fight. Martin's upcoming match against Anderson presents a pivotal point in his career. For Anderson, this fight represents a significant opportunity to solidify his standing within the heavyweight division and showcase his abilities against a seasoned, accomplished fighter.
