British super middleweight champion Callum Simpson has voiced his opinion on Ben Whittaker’s performance against Liam Cameron, claiming that Whittaker found “an easy way out” during their light heavyweight bout in Riyadh on Saturday. The fight came to an abrupt end in the sixth round after both fighters tumbled over the ropes, leaving Whittaker injured and unable to continue, reportedly due to a damaged right leg.

Simpson, who was ringside for the event, didn’t mince his words, saying he believed Whittaker was looking for a way out. “Other than the first round, I had him losing the rest,” Simpson told TalkSport. “Liam was putting pressure on him, and Whittaker unraveled from the second round. For me, it looked like an easy way out.”

Whittaker, who left the arena in a wheelchair, was declared unable to continue, resulting in a technical split draw. Simpson, however, questioned whether the injury was legitimate, suggesting that Whittaker “bottled it” as Cameron began to gain control of the fight.

Simpson, has been critical of Whittaker in the past, and this latest performance didn’t change his mind. “He’s a great dancer when he’s against journeymen, but tonight he was underperforming all the way through,” Simpson remarked, highlighting that Whittaker’s sharpness and power didn’t impress him.

With Simpson’s own career continuing to rise after a successful British title fight against Zak Chelli, it’s clear that he doesn’t see Whittaker as a real threat. For now, Simpson remains focused on his business at super middleweight, but he isn’t shy about letting Whittaker know he wasn’t impressed.
