Liam “Beefy” Smith has signed with Matchroom Boxing once again, as the British contender prepares to make his ring return. The 36-year-old, currently ranked No. 10 by the WBC at middleweight, last fought in September 2023 - a tenth-round stoppage loss to Chris Eubank Jr. That defeat evened up their series at 1-1, after Smith shocked Eubank by fourth-round TKO in January of the same year.

Smith, one of four fighting brothers from Merseyside, enjoyed his first run with Matchroom before switching to Boxxer in 2022. Now back under Eddie Hearn’s banner, he’s eager to capitalize on major opportunities in 2025. With high-profile shows lined up for Riyadh Season and other big events, Smith believes he can land a marquee fight that will put him in the spotlight once more.
While no official date has been announced for his comeback, “Beefy” is keeping a close eye on the upcoming Eubank-Conor Benn clash in April. He’s made it clear he’d be open to a trilogy with Eubank, or a showdown with another top contender at 160. Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn says an update on Smith’s return is coming soon.
