A surprising crossover fight is taking shape after Anthony Joshua confirmed his interest in meeting social media sensation-turned-boxer Jake Paul in 2026. Joshua’s public acknowledgment followed Paul’s revelation that the two had spoken directly and agreed to square off in what could become one of the most talked-about events in boxing.
Joshua is coming off a win over Otto Wallin and has been hoping for a lucrative clash with Tyson Fury. However, with Fury’s status unclear, Joshua is looking at other marquee matchups to bolster his career.
Paul recently defeated Mike Tyson via an eight-round decision in a blockbuster Netflix-streamed event that garnered significant buzz. His desire to continue mixing it up with high-profile fighters has also led to discussions of a possible bout against Gervonta “Tank” Davis. While that matchup would require a tricky negotiation around weight - Tank fights at 135 pounds, and Paul competes in the heavyweight range - Paul insists it remains on the table once Davis finishes his June 21 rematch with Lamont Roach.
“I talked to Anthony on the phone,” Paul said. “He called me up and said, ‘I saw you call me out. Let’s run it. Let’s make it happen.’ We’re planning on doing that in 2026.”
