Washington, D.C.’s Jordan White is ready to make a statement on April 12 when he takes on Argentina’s Matias Romero in a 10-round junior lightweight showdown at Live! Casino Hotel in Hanover, Maryland. White (18-1, 12 KOs), who’s riding a 14-fight win streak, believes this matchup could springboard him into the higher ranks at 130 pounds. Already holding knockout wins over unbeaten fighters Misael Lopez and Eridson, the 27-year-old former nine-time national amateur champion is intent on proving he’s “one of the greatest fighters in the world.”
Romero (29-3, 10 KOs), hailing from Cordoba, Argentina, brings a wealth of experience, having fought Isaac Cruz, Michel Rivera, and current featherweight world champion Robeisy Ramirez. Promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz, Romero is not expected to simply collect a paycheck. Lewkowicz notes that top-tier Argentine fighters always come to win, declaring the main event to be a “cat and dog fight.”

In the co-main event, heavyweights Stephen Shaw (20-2, 15 KOs) and Raphael Akpejiori (18-1, 17 KOs) will collide, both seeking to regain momentum in their careers. Shaw, 32, has won two straight since consecutive losses in 2023 to Efe Ajagba, while Akpejiori, 34, has racked up three victories since his lone defeat to Arslanbek Makhmudov the same year.
