For the first time in over 60 years, professional boxing returns to Cuba. Hosted by AGON Sports on April 11 at the luxurious Melia Internacional Hotel, fans will witness the WBA Final Eliminator in the newly minted Bridgerweight class, along with the first-ever professional fight by a Cuban woman on home soil.
TyC Sports will stream the event live, with tickets available for purchase at all Melia and Gran Caribe hotels in Varadero and Havana.
Leading the night’s action, five-time world champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist Julio Cesar La Cruz (3-0, 3 KOs) takes on former world title challenger Dilan Prasovic (18-5, 15 KOs) in an anticipated showdown. Sanctioned as a WBA Final Eliminator, this bout will determine who gets a crack at the Bridgerweight world title. For La Cruz, fighting in front of a Cuban audience adds extra incentive to maintain his perfect professional record in what is only his fourth fight as a pro.
