Undefeated junior middleweight Justin Figueroa (12-0, 10 KOs) returns this Saturday, Aug. 23, topping The San Antonio Summer Showdown at the Boeing Center at Tech Port. Promoted by Desi Martinez Promotions and Fighters First Management, Figueroa meets veteran Jarrod “The Technician” Tennant (9-5, 4 KOs) in an eight-rounder for the Junior NABF super welterweight title.
Back for his second appearance at the venue - after a dominant 2024 points win over Christian Aguirre - the Atlantic City native promises action: “San Antonio doesn’t want to see too much posing, they want a fight… When it’s ‘Justin Time,’ I flip the switch.” He calls Tennant a tricky, durable foe with a sharp jab and counters, but adds, “I have speed, power, angles, footwork - I’m a more complete fighter. My job is to make him fight.”
Tennant has never been stopped, a challenge Figueroa says he welcomes. “My coaches think I can stop him early, maybe even in the first round… I’m ready to go eight if I need to, but if he can’t keep up, I’ll get him out before four.” Figueroa trains under Johnny Gibbs with strength coach Darrian Hudgins.
A win would give Figueroa his first belt and position him for a WBC ranking. He’s eyeing a return to Atlantic City in November and bigger 154lbs opportunities thereafter. “It’s been a while since someone from Atlantic City brought a belt home,” he said. “This is the start of something bigger.”
