Biography

Kevin “King” Walsh was born on September 8, 1992, in Brockton, Massachusetts. Inspired by local legends like Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Rocky Marciano, Walsh began his boxing journey in his early twenties - a relatively late start. Despite that, he competed in over 50 amateur bouts, scoring 14 knockouts and earning three Rocky Marciano championship belts. Walsh made his professional debut on May 8, 2021, at Southpaw Boxing and Fitness in Windham, New Hampshire, where he secured a technical knockout victory over Henry Garcia.

On October 29, 2022, he faced Christian Otero at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, showcasing his skills and winning by unanimous decision. On August 5, 2023, he outboxed hometown favorite Philip Davis at Polar Park in Worcester, Massachusetts, earning another unanimous decision win. On September 7, 2024, Walsh fought Irvin Gonzalez for the New England Super Featherweight Title. He broke Gonzalez down with sharp combinations and stopped him in the fourth round to claim the belt. On February 15, 2025, Walsh returned to Mohegan Sun Casino, where he faced Ricky De Los Santos for the WBC USA Silver Featherweight Title. He finished strong, scoring an eighth-round TKO to secure the title.

After losing his father at age 16, Walsh went through a turbulent period that led to legal troubles and incarceration. Reflecting on that time, he told students at Angelo Elementary School, “I stopped hanging out with the wrong crowd, started at the boxing gym. I didn’t want to end up in jail my whole life, so I turned to boxing.” After his release, he was introduced to combat sports by local MMA fighters Steven Dunn and Lionel Young. Though he first considered MMA, he ultimately committed to boxing under the mentorship of Mike Cappiello, a former professional boxer connected to Brockton’s deep boxing roots.

Technical Overview

Like many New England amateurs, Walsh is a Golden Gloves–style fighter who emphasizes scoring clean, controlled punches with knuckle contact while staying balanced and composed. His footwork is pure Boston: step in, step out, cut angles with purpose. His lead foot stays planted, his guard high. His jab is a carpenter’s tool - precise and functional. Walsh’s favorite combinations include the double jab, right hand to the body, left hook upstairs is a regional classic - level changes that break rhythm and punish the guard. The jab, slip inside, right uppercut, left hook combo uses timing to sneak into range and strike from inside. The right-hand lead, pivot out, jab reset is a movement-based tool that resets the fight on his terms.

When he lands a hook, it’s not wild - it’s short, sudden, and damaging. His punches are compact and feel more like being hit with a briefcase than a glove. There’s no wind-up - just a flash and then darkness. His right cross follows the same blueprint: a straight, crisp line to the target. These are tools, not swings. The hooks and crosses are Americanized - tight, deliberate, and designed to end exchanges quickly. No looping MMA shots - Walsh throws with intention and form.

Walsh’s mental rhythm echoes the lyrics from Creed’s “Last Breath”: “At the edge, I’m holding on, I’m stronger than I’ve ever been.” That’s not just a line - it’s the mindset behind his fighting style.
