Biography

Anthony Cacace, born on February 2, 1989, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, is a distinguished professional boxer in the super-featherweight division. Standing at 5 feet 9 inches with a southpaw stance, Cacace began his professional journey on February 25, 2012, securing a first-round technical knockout against Ben Wager.

In May 2024, Cacace achieved a significant milestone by capturing the IBF super-featherweight title. He faced the then-undefeated Welsh champion Joe Cordina on the undercard of the Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk event. Demonstrating exceptional prowess, Cacace delivered a formidable performance, culminating in an eighth-round technical knockout victory. This win not only earned him the IBF title but also marked him as the first Irish boxer to claim the super-featherweight championship.

Following this triumph, Cacace defended his title against two-time former featherweight world champion Josh Warrington at Wembley Stadium on September 21, 2024. In a commanding display, he secured a unanimous decision victory with judges scoring the bout 118-110, 117-111, and 117-111 in his favor. Notably, the IBF did not sanction this fight as a title defense due to Warrington’s inactivity in the super-featherweight division.

In January 2025, Cacace made the strategic decision to vacate his IBF title to pursue more prominent and financially rewarding bouts. Expressing his intentions, he stated, “At this stage of my career, I only want the biggest fights possible, regardless of the belt on the line.” This move paved the way for a matchup against Leigh Wood in Nottingham.
